Joel Rea - Beneath The Blue

THe&Stary Van Dam Starry

Australian painter Joel Rea can amaze you in many different ways. It can be his incredible, hyperrealistic  painting skills, surreal atmosphere like from a dream, huge dose of motion, astonishing ideas or many other things that you are able to notice. In short, he creates something what's used to call "Amazing Art"

Artist  Jane Denison wrote;

"Using the physical elements as a metaphor for human emotion and experience, Rea portrays nature as pulsating energy that is both majestic and threatening"

I think these words really relevantly describes the essence of Joel's surrealistic paintings.

One of the most delightful element of these paintings is the feeling, that something was before and something will be later. What you're watching on at the moment is just paused element of longer story.

Another thing worth paing attention to is very strong intensity of Joel's paintings. Especially water, wind and clouds. Sometimes you may have an impression that it's more realistic than in reality.

Considering Joel's artwork, no wonder he's multi awards and prizes winner. Since 2003 he's got about 14 significant awards.

Let's mention just few of them;

2013 Finalist, Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, Perth
2013 Winner, ANL Maritime Art Award, Melbourne
2011 Finalist, Prometheus Visual Art Award, Gold Coast
2003 Awarded Golden Key International Honour Society membership for outstanding scholastic achievement and excellence.

Joel is very active and productive artist. You can see his works on many exhibitions across the whole world.

The last one has ended on Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York just few weeks ago. To get informations about next ones, just visit Joel's website.

One of the most interesting Joel's upcoming work can be the one in which he collaborates with australian actor Chris Hemsworth.

It will be complete in 2014
