Menton3, Sunday Munich, Avis, Saltillo - those are artistic pseudonyms under which we can find very intriguing figure. Painter, illustrator, comic book artist and musician able to play on almost every instrument. No matter how we currently call him, one thing I know for sure. He's a true artist deeply swallowed by his art.
Have a nice trip :)
Menton was born in Mississipi in 1976 and currently he works and lives in Chicago. His art is intriquing as Menton himself. The first impression we can get while we sink into his art, could be deep sense of dark, gloomy, mystic, fulfilled with symbols world. In fact, as Menton admits, he was always looking for relationship between images and their relevant use within the psyche.
Menton:
"My interest in painting stems from my investigation into the relationship between images and their relevant use within the psyche. Many of the mythological, religious, alchemical, and historical icons, symbolic figures and shapes stimulate, if not summon, internal functions."
Menton3 is a very versatile painter. Besides of traditioanl painting techniques such as oil paintings on canvas or linen panels, he also paints digitally, using tablet.

Let's have a look on comic book - part of Menton's art: For example:
- Silent Hill: Past Life
- Monocyte
- ZvR Adventure
As we mentioned before, Menton is related with Chicago collective, named Sunday Munich. It is (actually it was) a band created by Menton's himself and his wife Sarah. Menton played on cello, piano, guitar and he was creating loops and whole electronics stuff whereas his wife was a singer and she wrote lyrics.
I got to admit that the stylistic of the band is very interesting and impressive. It's intriguing marriage between trip hop, gothic and oldschool sounds connected with slow as an elephant pulse. But you'd better listen by yourself because as classic says: “Talking about music is like dancing about architecture.” :)
On the other hand, Saltillo it's authorial child of Menton's who created whole tracks.
Listen... (or dance)
His main music inspirations and in the same time his favourite music, is something in Sigur Ros, Robert Johnson or Dirty Three atmoshpere:
We know a bit Menton's visual art, we also know him a bit as a musician, we also know his inspirations. Putting all these things together, gets us closer to see what kind of person Menton probably is. Personally, I don't have a problem to call him true artist. In fact not only effect of artist's work makes him an artist. Does it?:)
