ELICIA EDIJANTO - "A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS"

“I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,  in secret, between the shadow and the soul.”
 -Pablo Neruda

There's something really meditative, contemplative and deep in watercolor paintings of Elicia Edijanto - Jakarta based artist.

Her paintings depict mostly a deep relation between children and wild animals like bears, elephants or wild cats. There's respect, trust and understanding between them. She amazingly operates with the contrast showing how close you can be with someone who's so different than you.

"There's an innate relationship between children and the animal kingdom. Our children sing songs about animals, they have books about animals and they dream about animals" - says artist.

Elicia uses very low spectrum of medias and maybe this is one of her most distinctive feature. Just a paper, black and white warercolors and brushes.
